The Office of Sponsored Programs

 

The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) reports to the Associate Vice Provost for Research, Jilda Diehl Garton. OSP provides research faculty with full-service "cradle to grave" support and administration for all research contracts and grants at the Georgia Institute of Technology through a number of functional units. Duane Hutchison is the Director of Sponsored Programs.

 

OSP provides progressive and responsive assistance in several areas of research administration including specialized educational, informational, and technological support to research administrators and faculty. OSP offers a robust slate of workshops and brown bags sessions plus a certificate program in sponsored research administration.

 

There are six functional areas are for contract administration (1) Industry Contracting; (2) the Federal Division (NSF, NIH, DOE, NASA, etc); (3) the SubContracting Division; (4) the Industry Flow Through & International Division; (5) the Department of Defense Division; and (6) the Universities, Foundations, State and Local Government Division.   They are responsible for submitting all proposal and grant applications for sponsored research and instruction on behalf of Georgia Tech. Services include review and interpretation of contract and grant requirements, determination of appropriate terms and conditions, and establishment of pre-contract agreements, as well as the monitoring of all active contracts and grants, including modification of existing agreements. Bob Simpkins is the Associate Director of OSP, while Christopher D'Urbano is the Manager of the Industry Contracting Office.
