The Industry contracting office works closely with the Office of Technology Licensing to develop intellectual property terms that meet the needs of faculty researchers and industry sponsors. In fiscal year 2008, about 80% of agreements for industry sponsorship or research were completed in less than 60 days. OSP has negotiated more than 80 master research agreements with industry sponsors.
Georgia Tech has been a leader at the national level with the University Industry Demonstration Partnership which is supported by the National Academies of Science. Georgia Tech also joined with a small group of universities and information technology companies to develop two sets of principles: Open Source Collaboration Principles and Free Participant Use Principles. Using these principles, Georgia Tech now has a number of ongoing collaborative research efforts with three major IT and telecommunications companies.
