Georgia Tech has designated December 21 through 24 as the period during which many employees will be furloughed. However, Georgia Tech will not be closed and many research activities will continue uninterrupted. In order to support these activities, most research administration offices have arranged to provide core services during the designated furlough period. Employees who work during the designated period in December will be furloughed in November. The guidance attached may assist researchers in planning for these time periods.

Please Note: All the offices and units listed above will be closed on:

November 26-27, 2009,
December 24, 2009, and
December 25, 2009 – January 1, 2010.

Webinar Series Addressing Government Research Funding Programs that support University-Industry Collaborations

The University-Industry Demonstration Partnership (UIDP) & National Council of Entrepreneurial Tech Transfer (NCET2) are partnering to hold a series of regularly scheduled webinars that highlight specific agencies and their programs that support university-industry collaborations.  The first, free on-line webinar will be held on December 16, 2009 at 4 PM eastern time.  Dr. Narayanan, Division Director of Industrial Innovation and Partnerships (IIP), will discuss current NSF programs that facilitate university-industry research collaborations and describe creative approaches being employed by universities and companies to leverage NSF funding to support these partnerships.

This webinar is open to anyone interested in how universities and industry can seek funding for their collective efforts. This can include university chief research officers, directors of economic development, corporate business development directors and academic liaisons, university professors and corporate researchers.

America Competes Act

October 19th, 2009

America Competes Act includes a provision requiring Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training for undergraduate students, graduate students and postdoctoral researchers participating in the NSF funded research project.  Please see the Office of Research Compliance website for RCR Ethics Modules.
